Canadian Golf Course Safety

When you think of safety on a golf course, you think of someone yelling “fore” after an errant golf shot, or the danger of being on the course when lightning strikes.

These however are not the safety issues that are now hot button topics for the golf course owner, operator, or manager in Canada. Heat stress, golf cart safety, violence and harassment in the workplace, WHMIS, signs of a “safety culture”…, these are what the Provincial government agencies are looking for.

Inspectors are conducting safety checks of golf courses to ensure that they are in compliance with having a joint Health & Safety Committee in place, with certified members, trained safety representatives, safety programs implemented and safety hazards corrected.
